Now that comic Con is done and over with, and after watching multiple interviews and Panels, I would like to see what Comic book Movie looks the best so far. I myself think the closest are Green Lantern and Captain America (Sorry Thor, I'm not hugely impressed besides the continuity you have with Iron Man.) Anyway I would like to see what the majority of the people think is going the best so far. I'm going to break this into 7 different parts and I guess you vote on each. #1 The Hero's Actor: Ryan Reynolds vs Chris Evans. -These two I think are similar. They usually play cheeky and cocky characters. Though they did have some serious roles such as Ryan Reynolds in Smokin Aces and Evans in sunshine. But is Ryan Reynolds Hal Jordan? But also can Chris Evans really embody Captain America? (Cap is to Marvel, like Superman is to DC) #2 Villain Casting: Mark Strong (Sinestro) vs. Hugo Weaving (Red Skull) - ( I know Sinestro is not the Villain in the first movie, But Peter Sarsgaard Hector Hammond is not as iconic in casting or in character as is Mark Strong's Sinestro.) Anyway This I think will be one of the closest deciding factors. Both these actors were contending to play each others role, so it seemed if Hugo weaving would have gotten Sinestro, Strong would have been the red skull. (I think though they got the roles right Mark strong definitely is more Sinestro than red skull and vice-versa.) I think that this will be a tough decision for any one since these two are some of the most iconic actors to play Villains in recent Film history.( Strong has played in roles such as Frank D'Amico in Kick ASS, Lord Blackwood in Sherlock Holmes, and Godfrey in Robin Hood. While Hugo Weaving played the iconic Agent Smith in the matrix and does the voice of Megatron in Transformers.) #3 Director: Martin Campbell vs. Joe Johnston: Here are 2 directors who have pretty good track records. Martin Campbell track record looks better though, with some of the greatest James Bond films (Casino Royale and Golden Eye) and also has the mask and legend of Zorro, While Joe Johnston has titles such as The Wolfman, Jumanji, The Rocketeer, October Sky, and Jurassic Park 3 just to name a few. Though Martin Campbell had some great action films and reinvented 007 is he ready to handle Sci-Fi and such a Heavily CGI related movie? #4 Supporting Cast: Blake Lively (carol Ferris), Peter Sarsgaard (Hector Hammond), Tim Robbins (Senator Hammond), Temuera Morrison (Abin Sur), Angela Bassett (Amanda Waller) VS. Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter), Sebastian Stan (Bucky), Tommy Lee Jones (Col. Chester Phillips), Stanley Tucci (Abraham Erksine), and Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) -A very strong Supporting Cast in Both Tim Robbins (Academy Award winner and Nominee) Angela Bassett (Academy award nominee), Peter Sarsgaard (Golden Globe Nominee), Tommy Lee Jones (Academy award winner and 2 time nominee), Stanley Tucci (Academy Award Nominee), and Samuel L Jackson (Academy Award Nominee). These movies have similar roles such as: Love interest(Carol Ferris/ Peggy Carter), Men who pass down the power (Abin Sur/ Albert Erksine), Government in charge men (Senator Hammond/ Col. Chester Phillips), and characters assembling superheroes (Amanda Waller/ Nick Fury) #5 Setting: Space/Other world vs. World War 2. Both movie settings are popular in Films and the mainstream audience. Some Famous films in Space/other world are Star Wars, Star Trek, Avatar (I personally dislike but the mainstream seemed to enjoy) and Aliens. While some breath taking World War 2 era movies have taken hold, such as Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers, and Schindler's List. The thing is no major comic book film has venture into these settings. Will the diverse creatures of Green Lantern's universe throw the mainstream audience off or Will the mainstream audience have a hard time relating to a comic book film in a different era, as they did in watchmen (the mainstream could not seemingly relate to the Cold war/ 70's 80's era in Watchmen and fail to see the importance of the moral ending) #6 Costumes: Both films have stepped away from what the usual moviegoer is use to seeing with these two heroes. Green Lantern has taken on a more skin like/alien feel and is entirely in CG. While Cap has taken on a more battle ready and Ultimate Comic look, which is not the usual iconic costume, losing the wings, red stripes, and A on the helmet. (GL's costume has had very mixed reviews to say the least.) #7 Weapon on Screen: The ring vs the shield. Both of these Superheroes have very Iconic Weapons in the comic book world. Though will these weapons transfer well on screen. Green Lantern's ring makes him one of the most powerful superheroes and can make anything he wills to, but is it to powerful or cheesy? Will giant hands and bubbles transfer well On screen? But then we Have Cap's shield which is very iconic to say the least but is... Read More »
